Dr. Donna Hicks is an Associate at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, Harvard University. Dr. Hicks is one of the leading experts in the field of international conflict. The Dignity Model methodology was designed to take a learning approach to understand the role dignity plays in the breakdown and restoration of relations.

After decades of observing conflict, Dr. Hicks identified The Essential Elements of Dignity, which can either honor or violate a person's dignity. When we extend dignity to each other, we promote healthy relationships. To learn more about Dr. Hicks and the Dignity Model, we invite you to visit her website.

Health New England adopted the Dignity Model as our core educational foundation and has integrated the framework into our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) platform. Our leadership and associates have participated in Dignity Model workshops to embed Dignity into our climate and advance inclusion for all. We have also developed an infrastructure to address internal dignity violations.
